Floating & Sinking Mystery
Friday, August 2, 2013 at 12:55PM
I have had a Density Paradox set for quite a while, but never have used it. This past week I decided to try it out. I might use this as a scientific investigation inquiry lab. Students can observe the first part of the first video and then they can hypothesize what caused the results and then propose ways of testing their hypotheses. Watch the video and then click on the solution tab at the end to see the solution.

Immediately after watching this video I began searching online for Density Paradox Sets! This is an excellent, thought-provoking experiment. Even without having to purchase a set for myself, this video gets the activity across loud and clear. One of my favorite aspects of this video was the time allotted for viewers to form their hypothesis about each trial of the experiment (great way to start off a lesson and get brains turned on). Thank you for sharing another really cool experiment!
