Book Review: Riding Rockets

riding rocketsI am a voracious reader of anything that has to do with the space program, mostly those about astronauts. I have read extensively about the Gemini and Apollo astronauts, which most astronaut books are about. There aren’t too many about the shuttle astronauts. One of the few books on the shuttle astronauts is “Riding Rockets”. The book is about Mike Mullane, a shuttle astronaut who flew two missions. He isn’t one of the more notable shuttle astronauts, but he definitely has stories to tell. He is one of the last politically incorrect astronauts–his views on women astronauts were very slow to improve. He is not one of my favorite astronauts, but he does provide some insight into the shuttle era that I haven’t read too much about.
