New Demo: 7 Inertia Demos

This video clip shows 7 demonstrations of Newton’s first law of motion–the law of inertia. Newton’s law of inertia states that objects moving at constant velocity will continue moving at constant velocity, unless acted upon by an outside unbalanced force. Six of these demonstrations (excluding demo 6) are from Tik Liem’s book Invitations to Science Inquiry. I have students volunteer to do all demos, except demo 5. All of the students in class receive a handout that they must fill in so that they understand how inertia is demonstrated and all the forces that are involved.

I am a science teacher and would like to show some of your demonstrations to my class. (specifically the 7 inertia demos at the moment) but my school blocks video websites. Are these files available for stand alone download?

Thanks for your comments. You can download all the videos at Google Video at http://video.google.com/videosearch?q=sciencefix&so=1&start=0. Click on one of the videos and there will be a “download” for window/mac button to the right. You will need to have the Google Video Player (http://video.google.com/playerdownload) downloaded onto your computer to play it back.

This is awesome! One question though. I like the other teacher, cannot access this video online via google video as it is blocked. I tried using the links you provided above - and there is no download button. Is there another way to access or download this video?

Also, I clicked on the link for the paper you use for the demos - and the link takes me to a non-link, document not found page.

    Please help! Ahh!

    Thanks in advance,

    Brian
